Djemba-Djemba makes shock Scottish move

Scottish Premier League side St Mirren have signed former Manchester United midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba subject to international clearance.

The 24-time capped Cameroon international passed a medical on Wednesday afternoon and has agreed a deal till the end of the current season.

The 32-year-old joined Manchester United in 2003 and after winning the the African Cup of Nations and also starring for Cameroon at the World Cup in Japan and Korea.

Manager Danny Lennon was delighted with the former United man: “He is a top drawer player who does a power of work in the defensive midfield area”

“He wants regular football to ensure he goes to the World Cup with Cameroon this summer and we are happy to give him that platform.” he told the St Mirren website.

Djemba-Djemba since leaving Old Trafford has turned out for Aston Villa, Nantes, Burnley, Qatar Sports Club, Odense, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Partizan Belgrade.

He could make his debut in the Scottish Cup on Sunday against Dundee United.
