Montenegro have confirmed the arrangement of an international friendly against Ghana on March 5.

The Black Stars will begin preparations towards the 2014 World Cup with the game against the European nation in Podgorica.

An agreement to play the friendly was reached on Friday 17 January according to a statement from the Montenegro FA.

“The first opponent for Montenegro in the year will be Ghana, one of the best African teams,” the statement released by the Montenegrin FA read.

“Leaders of the two associations have agreed today [Friday] a friendly match which will be played on the 5th March at the City Stadium in Podgorica.”

The game will be the only friendly match that Akwasi Appiah will oversee before he names his squad ahead of the pre-World Cup camp in May.

Ghana will be facing European sides in Germany and Portugal at the World Cup.

Their pool, Group G, will also be completed by the USA, who the Black Stars will face in their opening match. Some have named this selection the tournament’s ‘Group of Death’.
