The Ghana FA has released a five-man shortlist for the post of Black Stars coach.

According to Ghanaian journalist Gary Al-Smith, the shortlist is made up of former Chelsea manager Avram Grant; former Netherlands international striker Patrick Kluivert and Marco Tardelli. Rounding out the five are Michel Pont and former Levante manager Juan Ignacio Martinez.

Of the five, Grant has the biggest profile, having coached English giants Chelsea to the final of the UEFA Champions League in 2008. Since then however, his record has been less exemplary, as he infamously presided over the relegations of Portsmouth and West Ham United from the Premier League.

Kluivert and Pont both served as assistant managers of the Dutch and Swiss national teams respectively up until the end of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Martinez guided modest Levante to a sixth-place finish in La Liga in 2012, thereby qualifying the club for European competition for the first time in its history.

Of the five, only current Watford manager Marco Tardelli has coached on the continent, presiding over a bleak one-year spell in charge of Egypt in 2004. He also served as assistant to Giovanni Trapattoni during his five-year spell as Ireland boss.
