Ghanaian Partey secures UCL final berth
Ghanaian youngster Thomas Partey became the first African to reach the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League final after he helped Atletico Madrid defeat Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night.
Partey was introduced by Diego Simone replacing French star Antoine Griezmann with 21 minutes left of normal time.
Despite losing 2-1 on the night, Atletico progress on the away goal rule after scoring both home and away goals in the two-legged tie.
Partey thus becomes the sixth Ghanaian to reach the UEFA Champions League final after Abedi Pele (Marseille), Ibrahim Tanko (Dortmund), Samuel Osei Kuffour (Bayern Munich), Michael Essien (Chelsea) and Sulley Muntari (Inter Milan).
Nigerian starlet Kelechi Iheanacho and Ivorian star Yaya Toure will be hoping to join Partey in the final as Manchester City lock horns with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu this evening
