Southampton boss Ronald Koeman insists Senegal winger Sadio Mane will not be sold during the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old has been attracting interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, with the former having seen a £20 million bid turned down for the player during the summer.

It is understood the Red Devils believe they can tempt the Saints to sell during January with a £40 million bid. But Koeman is adamant the Senegal man will be staying on the south coast.

“You can ask again about Sadio, Manchester United, Chelsea, but we will sell nobody in January,” Koeman told BBC Sport.

Mane has scored six goals so far this season and Southampton are hoping the winger will be tempted to sign a new deal with the club, having joined from Red Bull Salzburg for £11.8 million in the September 2014.

Chelsea are also interested in tempting Mane to Stamford Bridge, after their faltering start to the season, and Koeman admits European football could tempt their biggest names away from St Mary’s stadium.

“They are showing qualities, and then of course big teams are interested,” Koeman added.

“It’s a normal progress of players who are developing themselves.”
