REPORT: DR Congo 1 Cape Verde 1
The Democratic Republic of Congo and Cape Verde played out a dire 0-0 draw in Group B’s second match of the day.
It was a game low on action, with neither side able to produce much in the way of goalscoring opportunity.
Cape Verde perhaps had the better of the action, with 38-year-old Robert Kidiaba thwarting them on numerous occasions with some vital saves, notably from Fernando Varela, Gege and Heldon.
In truth, however, neither side asserted their dominance and the game was largely bogged down in a wearing midfield battle.
Yannick Bolasie had a chance for the Congolese, just before halftime, but was eventually replaced having made a limited impact.
A draw leaves both teams with the opportunity of progression to the last eight, with Congo set to compete with Tunisia and Cape Verde facing Zambia in the final round of group matches next week.
